Am I liable if there’s a road accident during a lesson?

If you are not at fault and have followed all instructions, you won’t be liable for any damage or costs associated with the accident. However, if you have ignored instruction and caused the accident, you’ll be liable to pay the insurance excess. Currently, excess for learner drivers is $1000 per accident. This may vary depending on the vehicles and circumstances involved.
Who can be my driving supervisor?

Whether this be a parent or friend, they’ll need to meet a certain criterion.

They must:
- Hold a current licence for your vehicle class
- Have held their open licence for more than one year
- Have a valid licence which has not expired, been suspended or been cancelled
- Have a BAC of less than 0.05
What is a learner logbook exemption?
In some circumstances, it can be virtually impossible to meet the 100 hour requirement. In this case, it’s possible to get a learner logbook exemption for the Queensland Government. To be eligible you’ll need to:
- Not have frequent access to a car for practice
- Not have a supervisor available for regular drives
- Live on a limited road network
Do I need to bring my licence to each lesson?

Yes, you will need to carry your licence with you in order to undertake your driving lesson. Your supervisor or teacher is also legally required to be carrying their licence at all times during your practice.
